Every experience is a learning experience, whether you succeed or fail you always end up learning something new. Also there is a first time for everything and shooting a music video was one of them. I was given the opportunity and the privileged to help shoot AMP’s first official music video along with my newly formed crew. The ‘Spare Tire’ crew consists of Sam Song, Sam Choiza, Ryan Kim, Jin Lim, and myself. We are a mix of film makers and videographers who came together for this shoot and hopefully many more. With the help of Will Kim we were able to shoot all of the footage in about a day. The main location was in Silver Spring Maryland where there was a nice urban environment that added to the setting of the song.

All in all it was truly a learning experience for everyone, including the AMP guys. Many thanks to the crew, AMP and Adey Chaplin for the behind the scenes photos!

Finally, a logo.

I have finally made a logo for myself, with the help of my typography professor and plenty of variations over and over. A logo should represent who you are, and personally I find that a symbol cannot fully represent me the way my name can. As simple as it may sound or look, I love the way it turned out and how it represents my design aesthetic; clean and typographic.

Plenty of random sketches and drawing the same thing over and over.

So I got a GF. A Panasonic GF2 to be exact. I decided to pick her up for my upcoming Euro Trip and as my new compact camera system. As much as I love lugging my D7000 everywhere, I do occasionally like to keep it light and have fun pointing and shooting.

13 Deadly Sins of Desktop Publishing

The idea of this project was to take the universal idea of the 13 Deadly Sins of Desktop Publishing and give it an overall theme that could be carried over to a Brochure and a couple of cllateral items. Being so close to DC and the metro, I was inspired by the bold and clean design of the metro system.

This is the process of creating my poster of the Typeface Museo by Jos Buivenga. This clean and beautiful typeface was chosen over thousands of other fonts because of its simplicity and clean design. But most of all because it was free and available! The whole project was a great learning experience from design to print to mounting. All in all it turned out to be a great project that I am actually proud to show. See how it went..

…So I thought. Soon after this photo was taken the poster fell and cracked its side on the trash can below so I had to rinse and repeat all of the above. Live and learn.

Eden Center

Recently I launched EdenCenter.com. Eden Center is a Vietnamese shopping mall located in Falls Church, VA. In total, the whole site took about a whole year to complete, with 200+ combined hours. This was major feat in my career, and I am still thankful to have this opportunity.

Right now I am working as a Creative Director for Eden Center. In my work I am focusing my efforts on re-branding and refreshing the image of Eden Center as a cultural center as opposed to a bunch of Vietnamese Shops and restaurants through the website and social media outreach.

Its. About. TIme.

Finally obtained a new phone. Working hard to pay for it but it will be invaluable to me in the long run. Although we live in a world of dumb people and smart phones, I definitely plan on using it as a tool to organize things on the go and will try not to waste time by playing too many games lol. It irks me when people have smart phones and they don’t use them to their full potential. Examples: Hey uh whats the weather like, hey whats the capital of Texas, I’m lost how do we get to (blank)…….look it up on your smartphone.
